Frequent Q & A

  • The Price?

this is a loaded question which requires a lengthy response.. the short answer is this: Prices vary based on the time it takes from the beginning of the groom to the final touches. The amount of time your pup needs varies based on the selected service, condition of coat, requested haircut, any add-on treatments, and temperament of your pup. An estimate of the services I offer can be viewed on the Services page.

  • How Long?

    We aim for:

3-5 hours for a full groom

3 hours for a bath and tidy

2-3 hours for a short coated bath

Working with animals is unpredictable, so exact times can be hard to determine. We can always work around your schedule. Live your life! The first appointment is always the fastest.

If you need your dog back by a certain time, let us know when you make your appointment and we can accommodate.

Please always leave extra time for cuddles, play, and bond building between dog and groomer

We always text 30 minutes before we are done with their glam.

  • Independent Groomer?

Wild Dog Grooming houses a variety of independent grooming businesses through what we call a “rental model system”. Most new clients believe that all stylists are employees of the salon, but WDG acts as a “salon mall”, similar to today’s Sola Salons.

*groomers’ prices, payment methods, products, services, quality, availability, policies, and contact information will vary. This allows groomers to have complete autonomy and pride as skilled service workers.*

Disputes should be resolved with your individual groomer, as well as reviews.

  • Anal Glands?

We have long since stopped the practice of expressing anal glands. “expressing” anal glands is an old and outdated practice taught in grooming schools during the 1950’s. If your dog has an issue with its anal glands, this should be resolved between proper diet and your veterinarian. Dogs in the wild have been expressing their own anal glands for thousands of years. We strongly believe that this is an unnecessary practice and do not offer it at our salon.

  • Kennels or Free Roam?

This largely will depend on each dog. Although we do allow dogs to free roam, please understand that not all dogs behave as they would at a daycare or dog park. its a different vibe here. On any given day you may find your dogs waiting next to the only person they know, their groomer. Dogs are encoured to politely greet each other and rest or “hangout” until its there time to be groomed. every now and then two dogs will find their soul mate and become pals. Friendly, respectful, play is encouraged. Any dogs who cannot tolerate their stay by excessive barking, biting (aggression towards dogs/people) scratching at doors/kennels, urinating/defecating, etc., will be politely asked not to return and we will refer you to another salon or dog trainer.

  • When should I bring my puppy in?

We recommend starting a puppy with grooming as soon as they get their Parvo vaccine (usually at 3-4 months). The earlier, the better. It’s ideal to come weekly or bi-weekly for a bath and tidy for the first 6 months so we can train and work with your dog on getting them used to grooming and they can socialize too!
